Instructions for Authors

Authors are strongly advised to read the following instructions carefully and follow them strictly. The editors reserve the right to return manuscripts that are not prepared in accordance with these instructions.

I. General Information
Current Proteomics publishes well-timed review articles in all aspects of the fast-expanding field of proteomics. Before submission of the full manuscript, authors are strongly advised to send a summary of the proposed article for determination of its appropriateness for publication in the journal. This summary should outline the intended contents and coverage of the article. All manuscripts should be written clearly and concisely in English. The manuscript should be organized using double-spacing and 1 inch margins throughout. Manuscripts for full-length review articles should not exceed 60 pages (approximately 30 printed journal pages) while the limit for mini-reviews is 30 pages (approximately 15 printed journal pages).
There are no page charges for publication of manuscripts.

II. Submission of Manuscripts
The manuscript should be submitted online or via email to Ms. Ambreen Lodhi (Editorial Office) at ambreenlodhi@benthamscience.org

Manuscript Submission: Two copies of the manuscript must accompany the original along with the soft copy of the manuscript on a computer floppy disk(s) in MS Word file format (or created in any other well-known word processing software) should be submitted. To achieve rapid publication authors are encouraged to e-mail or fax their submission to the appropriate editorial office (see above) at the same time that they mail the manuscript. For even faster publication, authors are encouraged to submit their entire manuscript via Bentham’s online submission service (see below). Authors must provide their full address, telephone and Fax numbers with E-Mail address with all submissions.

For expedient and speedy reviewing of author's manuscripts, authors are strongly advised to include the PDF file of their manuscript on a floppy or zip disk, into the mailing material. At the same time the package is mailed, please also send by e-mail a copy of the PDF file of the manuscript to the editorial office.

Online Manuscript Submission: (preferable)
To facilitate speedy and cost-effective submission of abstracts and manuscripts, an online submission and tracking service via Internet is being offered. Once the abstract has accepted, we would prefer that you submit your full manuscript online via our online submission service available at www.bentham-mps.org

For online submission, please provide your complete manuscript in the form of a single zipped folder containing all the material (main text, figures/ illustrations, scanned photographs, tables, chemical structures drawn in ChemDraw) as separate files and a PDF version of the entire manuscript with all the figures/ illustrations / tables / chemical structures etc., embedded in the text exactly in the manner as they should appear in printing.

Authors are required to proofread the PDF version of their manuscript before submission. The article will be published exactly as received and the Publishers will not be responsible for any error occurring in the manuscript in this regard.

For online submission of manuscripts, these should be submitted via our online manuscript submission service available at www.bentham-mps.org or by FTP submission at www.bentham-ftp.org

You may, however, still submit your abstracts and manuscripts through conventional surface mail.

III. Organization of the manuscript
The manuscript should be divided in the following sections, each of which should start on a separate page: title page, list of abbreviations, abstract, the main text, acknowledgements (if any), references cited, tables and legends to figures (if any). All pages of the manuscript should be numbered. Please ensure that the letter “l” and the digit “1” as well as the letter “O” and the digit “0” have been properly used. For submission on a floppy disk, please specify the type of computer (IBM compatible, Macintosh, or other) as well as the name and version number of the word-processing package used. Please also label the disk with the name of the contributing author and the name of the file in the disk.

Conflict of Interest: Financial contributions to the work being reported should be clearly acknowledged, as should any potential conflict of interest.

Title page: The first page should contain the title of the article, the names of the authors (full first name, middle initials and surname), their institutional affiliations and keywords. Where it is necessary to distinguish author’s institutions, appropriate symbols should be used. Present address(es) of any author(s) can be indicated in a footnote. The name of the contributing author with whom all correspondence regarding the manuscript will be made should be indicated with an asterisk followed by his or her complete mailing address, telephone and fax numbers and an email address. The authors must supply up to eight relevant keywords that will assist indexers in cross-referencing the article. This should be followed by a short running title of no more than 40 characters (including letters and spaces).

List of abbreviations: Abbreviations should be defined the first time they are used in the manuscript and a list of abbreviations used should be provided.

Abstract: The abstract should not exceed 250 words and should describe the essential features of the review article, with the focus on the major advances in the field described in the article.

Key Words: Authors must supply up to eight key words along with their manuscript.
Text: The main text may further be subdivided according to the areas to be discussed. The review article should mention any previous important reviews in the field and contain a comprehensive discussion starting with the general background of the field. It should then go on to discuss the salient features of recent developments. For brevity, the authors are strongly encouraged to cite materials that have already been published in a previous review.

Acknowledgements: Acknowledgements should be kept to a minimum.

References: Current Proteomics uses the author-date reference style (the Harvard System), with in-text citations within parentheses and an unnumbered reference list arranged alphabetically by first author’s surname. In the text, references should be referred to by the last name of the author(s) and year. More than one paper from the same author(s) in the same year must be identified by letters a, b, c, etc. placed after the year of publication. In the text, when referring to a paper by more than two authors, the name of the first author should be followed by “et al.”. Literature references must consist of names and initials of all authors, year, title of the paper referred to, abbreviated title of the journal, volume number and the first and the last page numbers of the paper. For more than eight authors, list only the first eight and then add et al. Periodicals, books and multi-author books should conform to the following
